A Holiday Storytelling Festival

Village Players’ popular and crowd-pleasing Storytelling series continues with a four night festival of holiday storytelling, featuring different performances every night.  National and local tellers will create a celebration of seasonal tales: Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa – from true tales to folktales, humorous to heartwarming.

Handily, there will be four shows; four different “packages” of tellers:

‘Tis the Season: A Holiday Storytelling Festival performs December 13, 14, 20 & 21.. Show times are Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 2:30 PM. Tickets are $20 per show or 3 shows for $45 (a savings of $15!).

Presented in the Blackbox Theater of the newly renovated Village Players Performing Arts Center located at 1010 Madison St., Oak Park (map). Plenty of parking is available on the street. A Rock’N’Roll Christmas – Friday, December 19

Board President Paul McKenna is coming out of the office and onstage for one night only! McKenna, owner of popular Forest Park eatery Starship Restaurant, will bring in all his favorite friends, including The Paw Minnow Band, for an evening of great music. This is a Christmas concert for anyone who thinks a little guitar is instrumental for some Christmas cheer.

We Need A Little Christmas – Saturday, December 20

This Village Players Christmas concert will unite some old friends and some new faces for an evening of traditional and classy Christmas music. Dale Calandra, direct from the national tour of Hairspray, will host the evening as his hilarious alter ego Aunt Lola Cabana. Featured performers include renowned Chicago jazz singer Denny Englemen as well as Village Players favorites Laurie Marchese (The Full Monty) and Jack Crowe (Chad Morton’s TV Christmas Miracle).
